Cozinha Raiz Challenge mixes gastronomy, music and lots of fun!

Knowing Salvador through its rich and diversified gastronomy makes you understand much of our own country’s history. You can experience the importance of the African and indigenous matrices in the use of seasonings, plants and fruits, building an imaginary bridge that links the past and the present in delicious dishes of such striking flavors.
With the purpose of telling these and other stories, the City Government of Salvador, through the Secretariat of Culture and Tourism, within Programa Salvador 360 creative economy axis, launched Desafio Cozinha Raiz, to prize the city’s gastronomic culture, reaffirm the tradition and promote Salvador as one of the main gastronomic destination of typical food in Brazil.
The webseries fosters gastronomic challenges where renowned chefs from the Soteropolitan kitchen invite digital influencers with little or no skills into the kitchen to prepare dishes that are famous for being one of each chef’s signatures. In the first episode, Chef Beto Pimentel, from the restaurant Paraíso Tropical, and Marcio Vitor receive Gominho to cook Dandá de Camarão. Desafio Cozinha Raiz mixes gastronomy, music and lots of fun!
Big names’ guests
If it already starts with Chef Beto Pimentel, Marcio Vitor and Gominho, the joy and relax environment continue with Chef Tereza Paim, from Casa de Tereza restaurant and Ju Moraes who invite Ju De Paula to cook Moqueca de Camarão. In the third episode, Chef Lucius Gaudenzi from Du Chef Restaurant and Aline Ramos, together with Lincon Sena, invite Foquinha to cook the Grilled Lobster with Herb Butter, and Saffron and Bottarga Risotto. The 4th and final episode will still be recorded and the participants are still being set. Just wait!

At each contest, the chef and his or her local guest receive an influencer who participates in the challenge. First the restaurant’s kitchen is presented and the influencer hears a little about the origins and curiosities of the typical dish he will prepare. Then he or she will receive a list of the ingredients needed to make the dish and will buy them at street markets and municipal markets.
With the recipes and ingredients, the influencers will return to the restaurant and receive the latest directions from the chef to make the chosen dish. They will have 3 hours to complete the challenge. To finish, in a relaxed and humorous tone, the hosts try and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the prepared dish.Desafio Cozinha Raiz is displayed on the YOUTUBE.COM/SALVADOR channel. There are 4 couples and each challenge is divided into 4 episodes.
There is a perfect playlist joining the web series, which is called “Cozinha Raiz”, created at Spotify, in the profile Visit Salvador da Bahia. The idea is to turn sensations, ingredients and recipes into songs. In the selection, “Panela” by BaianaSystem with Ganhadeiras de Itapuã, “Vatapá” in Gal Costa’s voice and “Mancha de dendê não sai” by Moraes Moreira are just some of the hits.
