Salvador por Soteropolitanos. Rio Vermelho.

16 places to enjoy day or night, after all, this is Salvador’s bohemian neighborhood

More than a century ago, Rio Vermelho was a fishing colony, considered far from downtown Salvador. The neighborhood has this name, by the way, because of a slaughterhouse that worked there, leaving the Lucaia River red with the blood of the animals. Today, the reality is quite different.

The neighborhood hosts, every February 2nd, the traditional Iemanjá Festivity, which fills the streets and the sea in honor of the Queen of the Sea. With many bars and restaurants for all tastes, the place is a mandatory stop for those who want to enjoy Salvador nightlife. Not to mention the traditional acarajés that give the neighborhood a special flavor. There are several traditional establishments in the place, but, in the last two years, others were opened that are worth the visit of tourists and Soteropolitans. Come with us!
