About the Tour

Opened in January 2017, the Mediterranean restaurant Egeu is located in a privileged location: on Ladeira da Barra, facing the Bay of All Saints. The cuisine is managed by chef Antônio Santiago, with traditional and contemporary Mediterranean recipes, made with fresh ingredients for delicious dishes.

The design of the house has touches of Greece not only on the menu but also in the decor. Both on the balcony and on the tables inside, there is a beautiful view of the bay. Our tip is to have one long lunch, with a lot of chatting, eating one of the tasty dishes of the restaurant and then surrender to Bahia’s History told in photos, very close to there.

The story told in epic images of this beautiful state

Nearby, at Porto da Barra, Santa Maria’s Fort is home to Pierre Verger Space, Bahia’s Photography Museum. In only one place, it is possible to travel throughout the state, and through every corner of that city: the photographs are breathtaking. Great professionals captured images of Bahia from different perspectives, showing the cultural diversity of this wonderful land.

Very technological, it has projections, lounge-cinema, interactive map and virtual reality. Besides the legacy of the French-Bahian ethnologist and photographer Pierre Verger, there is also the sight of 60 photographers who were born or settled in Bahia. After the tour, it is also worth to lean over the fort and look at the beach and Barra Lighthouse from another angle. It is also very interesting to stop there to see the movement of the sea in the ebb tide and feel the changing force of nature. Try to get out before the sunset, so you have time to go to the other fort, at the other end of that bay. All information in this link.

A virtual universe of reliefs, textures and colors

Walk along the seashore and head to the other fort, San Diego. There you will see the cement, the reliefs, the texture and the colors of Hector Julio Páride Bernabó, known as Carybé, represented in this one that is the reference Technological Center of the artist’s life and work. It has several digital media and virtual reality features. It’s also a great ride for kids, who get crazy interacting with their own shape, projected onto the wall.

If you follow this itinerary, you will not have to pay again: the ticket entitles both spaces, the photography one and the Carybé one. To complete, daily, from 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m., images of the collection are projected with the video mapping technique, on the façade of these two forts. So colorful!!! Really beautiful! In this fort, the wooden deck is an excellent option to watch the projection. You can sit there on the floor… or you can watch a little bit there and then run off to finish the day also watching the other fort’s projection.
