Casa Castanho specializes in serving breakfast, brunch, care and affection. Partners Catarina and Cristina serve delicious options on the menu, perfect to start the day well. All this in the city’s most bohemian neighborhood, Rio Vermelho, full of bars and restaurants, but lacking in options for those who love cakes, breads, juices and goodies. The idea is to gather people around a tidy table with flowers, crockery and comforting food. The best part is, after eating, spending hours at the table, talking, telling stories, laughing and being happy.
The “delicious tips” are warm and crispy cheese bread waffle, tostadas and mango, passion fruit and cardamom iced cream. About the baguette on hot plate with a small layer of Nutella on top, people say that “one bite is enough to let go of any hindering thought of happiness”. To top it off, the cake of rapadura with ganache, jellies and the house granola.
There are also options on the individual menu, such as parma tostada or baguette on hot plate with scrambled eggs, or combos, such as the Brunch that comes with banana, strawberry and blackberry iced cream, and the house granola; zucchini tostada, grilled eggplants, melted cheese, arugula and aioli mint sauce; wet brownie and orange juice. There’s another meatless option, with mango, passion fruit and cardamom iced cream; mix of sautéed mushrooms tostada, roasted tomatoes, arugula and sour cream; and banana and chocolate crumble to sweeten life.
