A knowledge tour through several areas of geoscience
Bahia Geological Museum (MGB) is home to one of the largest fossil and mineral collections in Bahia, divided into thematic exhibitions that provide a geological time trip and show in its more than 20 thousand pieces the state’s mineral heritage. Its facilities and collections are similar to some of the best geoscience museums in Europe and the United States. Among the curiosities, there is a replica of the largest meteorite found in Brazil, in the municipality of Monte Santo in 1784, and many other curiosities about our subsoil richness. It also has a 125-seat auditorium/cinema and a café in the shade of a centennial mango tree with a view to the beautiful artist Juarez Paraíso’s mural. The Museum is a center for research, dissemination and preservation of Bahia’s geological heritage and develops scientific, educational and cultural nature projects.
