Several new enterprises have been opened in recent years in the capital of Bahia, joining already traditional spaces in the city. Pituba, a traditionally residential neighborhood, has increasingly become one of the “spots” of Salvador’s nightlife. Bars, restaurants, burger places and even sushi bars were opened there in recent years, becoming great options for both those who live in the neighborhood and for people from more distant neighborhoods — since Pituba is located in a central region of the city.

Place name: Kion’s Kitchen
Address: Angélicas Street, 270 – Pituba
Go there: Kion’s Kitchen provides an immersion in South Korean culture, not only with typical foods, but with a space where customers can even sing karaoke, a typical hobby among South Koreans. The venue opened in June 2021, becoming the city’s first physical South Korean food restaurant. The head of the establishment is chef Kion Seo.

Place name: Jiló Restaurante

Go there: After 7 years in Itacaré, in the south of Bahia, chef Ícaro Rosa and his wife Elen Luz brought Jiló Restaurante to Salvador, in a cozy space with incredible gastronomic flavors in the Pituba neighborhood. The restaurant brings what the chef considers a “world cuisine”, with influences from different places, from Japan and Thailand, passing through France and arriving in Brazil, from where he also brings his mother’s cuisine as inspiration.

Go there: Those who watched Woody Woodpecker in Brazil are used to hearing “boia” as a synonym for food. Well then: how about some “boia” in the Boia?
