Everything you wanted to know about the most immersive spaces in the city

For residents and visitors who want to know the city in depth, we have prepared a special itinerary with the 05 cultural facilities of Salvador. In them, you will stroll through modern places, with excellent curation, high technology, allowing an immersion in this plural and multifaceted land.

Cidade da Música da Bahia makes a true historical and cultural rescue of the music produced in the state. The entire collection of the museum is 100% audiovisual and the space offers free wi-fi service. It has 1,914.76 m² of built area and four floors, 750 hours of content and is located in a historic mansion, built in 1851, in the Comércio district.

The museum has information about the history of Bahian music and artists. To consume the content, just have your cell phone in hand, read the QR Code and follow the instructions. Also on the list of attractions are educational entertainment, such as the three karaoke clip recording studios, where visitors choose a graphic background and, at the end, have their clip ready to post on social networks; “Rap and Trap” room, where visitors can recite their rap or poetry; quiz Game (questions and answers about Bahian music, based on the exhibition) and much more.

The museum even has a special demonstration room for a percussion set, where people sit around the central table. A monitor of the cultural space makes a show class with the final participation of all visitors. This same room is designed to be a recording studio.

With care and the use of technology and interactivity, Casa do Carnaval tells the story of the revelry in a visual and sensorial journey, with several thematic clippings of the party that is at the heart of popular culture, social transformations, and the formation of Bahian identity. This is the house of the most loved and awaited party in the world! There, it’s carnival all year round.

The first Carnival Museum has four floors: the ground floor, the first floor, the terrace and the basement. It has models, clothes and instruments borrowed from the party’s artists, photos and historical documents, and two cinemas where visitors can learn the party’s rhythms, dressed up, and with the help of monitors. Several video projections are also part of the collection (each visitor makes their “trip” through the house in a private way, using headphones).

On the roof, visitors can also enjoy an area with a beautiful view of the All Saints Bay and a good part of the Lower City, from Comércio to Ponta de Humaitá.

Casa do Rio Vermelho – Jorge Amado and Zélia Gattai Memorial

“A Casa do Rio Vermelho”, the last residence where the writers Jorge Amado and his wife Zélia Gattai lived, is a rich memorial about the life and work of this admirable couple, who took the literature of Bahia to the world. The environments maintain the original characteristics of the property and each room has projections with different subjects about the lives of the artists. The memorial offers visitors more than 30 hours of videos, projections and audio about the couple’s life and work. The house is already a tourist reference, fulfilling the writer’s wishes to become a lively and active center.

The rich collection also keeps important documents, such as letters exchanged with national and international personalities, which can be read and appreciated by visitors. To make the experience more didactic, the house was divided into several spaces. The visit is accompanied by qualified guides, who are divided by the rooms of the house, guiding and passing on information to visitors.

Espaço Pierre Verger da Fotografia Baiana (Pierre Verger Space of Bahian Photography) – Santa Maria Fort

In a single place, it is possible to travel throughout the state of Bahia and to every corner of Salvador. How? In breathtaking photographs, great professionals show Bahia through different perspectives, highlighting the cultural diversity of this wonderful land. This combined with projections, cinema-room, interactive map and virtual reality, allowing the visitor to create their own exhibition, among the more than 5,000 photographs presented.

This is the Espaço Pierre Verger da Fotografia Baiana, a project dedicated to the appreciation, recognition and dissemination of Bahian photography, highlighting the work of the Franco-Bahian ethnologist and photographer Pierre Verger and of over 100 photographers who were born or took up residence, albeit temporarily, in Bahia.

The cement, reliefs, texture and colors of Hector Julio Páride Bernabó, known as Carybé, are represented in one of the most charming places in the city: Porto da Barra. The works are not on the walls, but the virtual universe created for the experience makes an immersion in prints, drawings, illustrations, ceramics, sculptures and murals in an ultra-interactive way.

Espaço Carybé das Artes is a technological center of reference for the artist’s life and work, demonstrating, through digital media and virtual reality resources, the artistic greatness of this man and his importance within the most diverse techniques and languages ​​used. More than 500 works are accessible, including projections on the facade of the Fort, which create a fantastic reality.
